Meet the Band: Chris Wills

31 January 2019

Chris Wills has been performing with Jim Curry’s John Denver tribute show for over 20 years.  Chris has been a fixture in the band almost from the very beginning – playing the piano and synthesizer parts and singing harmonies.

From the very start, one of the (many) things that impressed everyone about Chris was his willingness to take the time to study John Denver’s music on his own and become familiar with the melody lines that the audience can easily recognize in a concert.  Chris quickly memorizes music, so he was effortlessly playing like a pro with us from our very first concert together!

Chris’ musical accomplishments are too numerous to list here in a simple blog!  He keeps busy teaching music theory at Biola University and Azusa Pacific University, he composes music for symphonies, he plays in other tribute bands and he often plays keyboards for famous people like Michael Martin Murphy!

Chris’ star is still rising, and we are so lucky to have him as part of our band (when he is available, lol!)

    Anne,
Attended our fifth Curry performance last night in Clover, SC. You guys just get better and better. Enjoyed the feature with Chris Cole. What a talent! I’m sure you heard us singing along, holding hands, as part of the balcony chorus. You always remind us just how special this music is and how talented and professional your band is.
    Warmest regards to you all,
    Joe and Sandy Shull

JOE! I’m so glad you were at the concert!! Did you come by my table and say hi??? I’m sorry, if you did, I did not register that it was YOU!! I thought about contacting you before we came out, but I was quickly overwhelmed by getting ready to go….sorry! Glad to hear you were there, representing the choir in the balcony!!

"It was a real trip down memory lane. ... Jim Curry was over there sounding like John Denver. A couple of times I closed my eyes and went back 15 years. It was strange and cool at the same time.". . .
