Making New Friends

30 June 2018

No matter how far we travel, we always are in the company of friends….

It seems that anyone who loves the music of John Denver can also appreciate the importance of friendship.  It reminds me of this old Girl Scout song:

“Make new friends, but keep the old,

One is Silver and the other is Gold”

If you believe the message in the song, then you believe that friendship is to be valued and protected.   When we do our shows, we have the benefit of making new friends in addition to the pure joy of performing great music.  We love to greet the audience after the show, take pictures and talk about John Denver….we think greeting the audience is the most important part of our job.

Here’s to friends, new and old – may they brighten your life like silver and gold!

Anne, Frances and Jim

Frances Burden is 92 years young and lives near the bay area in California.  She attended one of our shows with her group, the Gold River Villagers.  Her son Larry reached out to us via email to let us know she would be attending the concert and we surprised her by recognizing her and her friends during the concert.  Larry told us that his Mom has always loved music and taught his sister Linda and him to love it as well. They always had the radio on growing up but in their teens they played and sang John Denver music at all of their family gatherings. They imagined being in the wonderful places that John wrote about and felt like they were right there with him!

Anne, love the kitchen Jim did a good job and I sure you held a nail or two to help him or possibly your tongue?? hee, hee! Question, why is the John Denver Tribute show in PA? Why not Colorado? I can get there but PA is a long way from little Mitchell, SD. Just wondering. Have a great summer.

Hi Mary Kay, well, you missed the Estate John Denver Tribute Show in Colorado….I think it was last April. They’ve done it twice there, so I expect they will be back…hopefully!! The reason why it’s in PA is that the venue in PA bought the show….simple as that. Maybe the show will get more buyers and will get to tour the states a little, I know they will advertise it to the buyers with venues…we should try to get the Corn Palace to present it…are they still doing show there?

Love you. I had surgery in December 2017 (full knee replacement) and had to miss out on this year’s concerts in Claremont. Do plan on trying for the show in Upland (I hope!, I hope!) August 24th. Keep up your wonderful performances, be safe, enjoy! Your kitchen remodel looks beautiful! Always Leaphy (Carl’s Jr. on Campus)

Leaphy! Keep working on that knee and we will see you soon (maybe at Carl’s Jr, lol). We will look for you at the Cooper if you are feeling up to it – praying for a speedy and painless recovery for you!!

Your kitchen is beautiful and Jim did a fantastic job. Cannot believe how fast he accomplished it. My contractor needs a few lessons from Jim.

My friend and I attended your Antioch CA concert. This was only our second time. We saw you at the Firehouse in Pleasanton Ca a couple years ago. This time it was very emotional for both of us. You all brought tears to our hearts. Thank you for the feelings of love you bring to us through John’s music. I am contacting my friend today to see if she will go to your September 28 show. I have been afraid to fly and only fly to Hawaii every three years but just decided I’m missing to much of life and at 72 it’s time to do what I want and cannot control my future. THANK YOU FOR THE FEELINGS YOU BRING WITH YOUR WONDERFUL VOICES AND SPIRIT.

Happy July 4th to you family and our Country. I wanted to send you a picture of me in my July 4th outfit but could not find the picture icon. I’m a little mechanically challenged on these things. We did have a few fires recently here in the Bay Area CA. People do not listen and already setting off the fireworks. In our area two people have cannons and set off the big guns and LOTS of illegal fireworks all over the cities.

So looking forward to seeing you all again. Cannot end without giving kudos to your band. The music makes my heart sing ❤️

Hi Lynn! Thank you for your nice comments! We appreciate you taking the time to write and sorry we didn’t get to see you in your July 4th outfit! Hope to see you soon! -Anne and Jim

So nice to see you in Bright Ontario again. I want to thank you so much for coming to Canada. I know getting through Canada Customs at the border can be quite time consuming sometime.
I hope that the Walters Family will be able to have you back soon. If they do I will be there.

Thank you Teddy! We are honored to be asked to perform at the Walter’s Family Theatre! Of course we would come back if asked!!

"It was one of the best programs we have had here and I hope you will come back up next year. The sound and look were perfect and my friends talked all night about how much enjoyment and sentiment your show gave us."

"Curry makes you feel as if you are visiting him in his living room and his band shares the same warmth, which rolls out into the crowd…"
